Our Projects
Terracycle
SNRC runs Cornell's campus wide Terracycle recycling system, a program that helps turn typically "non-recyclable" materials into new and useful resources. We collect, sort, and manage this entire process on campus! With the help of distributed recycling from organizations like us, Terracycle has diverted millions of pounds of valuable resources from landfills across the globe. You can find Terracycle bins in most residential buildings across campus! We invite you to utilize these bins to dispose of these traditionally "non-recyclable" items, including coffee capsules, shaving handles, pens, plastic gloves, makeup tubes, and more.
Green Up Cornell & Gorge Cleanups
Every year we celebrate spring by conducting a community-based philanthropy event. Green Up Cornell is a day for people to come together and clean up campus by removing invasive species and trash. We educate participants on the different types of invasive species present at Cornell and teach them how to identify and remove them safely. We are also partnering with Cornell Botanic Gardens to participate in the Adopt-a-Gorge program and adopt our gorge!
Speaker Series & Movie Nights
During covid, SNRC has worked to educate about and recognize our natural resources by putting on both Speaker Series and monthly movie nights. The Speaker Series is a place where professors and researchers can collaborate with us to talk about a certain topic relating to the semester's theme. During Movie Nights, we get cozy and watch a film about our sustainability-based theme of the month and discuss it.
